Puppetry: Building Rod Puppets (Adults)
Wednesdays, 9/29/2010 - 10/27/2010, 6:00 - 9:00 P.M.

Instructor: Richard Hochheimer

In this unique course, Richard Hochheimer will introduce students to the art of puppetry. Each student will have the opportunity to design and build a rod puppet and then learn basic puppetry skills for stage and screen. The class will discuss creative design and character development and learn how to pattern out shapes to facilitate a puppet using craft foam and found materials. Richard Hochheimer is a craftsman, musician, and teacher who has taught puppetry to students of all ages. He has worked as a props craftsman at Jim Henson's Muppet Workshop, The Metropolitan Opera, and the New York Shakespeare Festival. Basic Sewing Techniques

Whether you're a fashion fanatic, a crafter, or just trying to be more resourceful, learning how to sew is a basic skill that can take your ideas to the next level. In this introductory course, students will be introduced to hand sewing, using a sewing machine, draping, following patterns, and more. You'd be surprised what you can do with a simple pattern a little know how! No class on 10/26, instructor away


Beginning Mosaics
Sundays, 10/24/2010 - 11/7/2010, 12:00 - 3:00 P.M.

In this three-week workshop, learn the basics of the art of mosaics. Turn your designs into colorful, vibrant mosaic pieces.  Students will be able to design and complete a project of their choice - a finished mosaic picture frame, a mirror, a flower pot - come up with your own ideas and the instructor will work with you to make it happen.
