Fiber Arts

Weaving I

Instructor: Myra Dorman

This is a two credit course. Special registration polices apply; please call 273-0552. An introduction to the science of fibers, the process and treatment including individual projects exploring yarn and fabric structure and finishing. Weaving projects will be done on a four-harness loom.This course involves the use of hand tools requiring fine motor coordination.


Silk Painting

The wonderful art of silk painting combines the beauty of silk with the intensity of color. Gain a basic familiarity with the tools in this unique art form as you are shown several introductory techniques. Experiment on your own silk pieces of silk which are then made into greeting cards and a sun catcher. 


Basic Sewing Techniques

Whether you’re a fashion fanatic, a crafter, or just trying to be more resourceful, learning how to sew is a basic skill that can take your ideas to the next level. In this introductory course, students will be introduced to hand sewing, using a sewing machine, draping, following patterns, and more. You’d be surprised what you can do with a simple pattern and a little know how! No class on 10/26.
