You've worked on your ART, now learn the BUSINESS of theatre. What works
at an audition and doesn't? How do I market myself? How can I get
seen...and get cast? Do my headshot and resume leave the right
impression? With more than 20 years in the casting business, Stephanie
Klapper provides insight and practical advice on how to make the casting
director your advocate. Each participant will have the opportunity to
perform a prepared two-minute audition monologue for critique and will
receive feedback on their headshot and resume.
Master Class in Vocal Technique with Kelly Bird

From the serious vocalist to the one who is just getting started, all
singers can benefit from training and constructive feedback from a
professional. The Arts Center welcomes renowned vocalist Kelly Bird to
the Black Box Theater for a Master Class in Vocal technique. Ms. Bird,
better known as the "jingle queen" of the Capital Region has performed,
written and produced countless radio and television commercials, both
regionally and nationally. Kelly is in high demand not only for her
amazing sound and dead-on vocal technique, but also for her exceptional
reputation working with clients, studio staff and fellow musicians.
Students will be given the opportunity to sing and receive individual
feedback, or observe from a group perspective. Registered students
should come prepared to sing a show tune or a jazz standard.

This three week "audition bootcamp" will concentrate on preparing a strong monologue and practice towards confident cold reading auditions. Other topics of discussion may include typecasting (discovering what makes you marketable), appropriate material selection and rehearsing a strong introduction. Please have a prepared monologue ready for use in class.

This three-week course will cover speaking the language of Shakespeare, through the study of scansion, imagery and line endings. Students will be provided with their text before the course begins and should be familiar with it when they come to class. A great opportunity for actors and lovers of great literature to explore the English Language's most celebrated writer.
