No matter what your level of experience may be, you can create a beautiful stained glass panel. Beginners will choose from four available designs and then learn how to cut glass, assemble, foil and solder your panel (up to 8"x10"). Experienced students can take this opportunity to work on their own designs with the guidance of an experienced instructor. You will surely be amazed by what you can accomplish in one day.

This is a two credit course. Special registration polices apply; please call 273-0552. Introduction to basic stained glass techniques. This course will explore all aspects of two-dimensional stained glass construction, preliminary work, glass cutting, soldering, and cleaning. Design and color theory as it relates to stained glass will be explored through lectures and slide presentations. This course involves the use of hand tools requiring fine motor coordination.

A continuing development of stained glass with refinement in both technical and aesthetic pursuits with in-depth exploration of lead glazing techniques. The techniques involved in constructing three dimensional stained glass forms, such as boxes, terrariums and lamp shades will be covered in this class. This course involves the use of hand tools requiring fine motor coordination.

This class is designed specifically for kids teens, ages 9 and up. Students will learn the basics of stained glass art, including cutting glass, grinding, foiling and soldering. Design techniques, color and types of glass will also be covered. Students may design their own piece or choose from many options provided.

Glass bead making is an ancient Venetian art form that has experienced a great resurgence in the past several years. There are countless varieties of style, color and shape that combine to make beautiful and unique glass beads. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the equipment, tools, materials and techniques used to safely melt and form glass into an array of bead shapes and styles. You will leave the class with your own beautiful beads in hand and perhaps a dose of glass bead fever!

Beads come in many shapes and sizes. In this class, students will learn how to use tools and marvering techniques to shape glass into square, triangle, bi-cone, tube and tab shaped beads.

Endless design possibilities begin with a simple dot or line. Students will learn how to lay dots and line son the surface of a bead as the basis of bead design and style. Learn how to melt and move the dots and lines into various patterns and designs. Creating and using multicolor rods of glass called "twisties" will also be covered.

Whether they are encased within the glass or elegantly placed on the surface of a bead, flowers are a beautiful addition to bead design. In this class, students will learn how to create beautiful gardens under a layer of glass encasement. Creating and using petal and vine cane to create beautiful surface flowers will also be covered.

An encasement layer of clear glass adds depth and interest to the bead design. In this class, students will learn various methods of adding an encasing layer of glass to beads. Altering the look and design of the base bead through heat control and glass movement as well as how to add glass without altering the base design will be explored.
